Artist Statement
My work focuses on the ongoing importance of nature and the environment within our ever-changing world. Man has encroached on nature for centuries, but our structures are not eternal. Nature is unconcerned with time and will continue to grow and adapt to these human-made changes within an altered environment. Natural disasters that strike the east coast leave behind noticeable scars, altering both the manufactured and organic elements in the landscape. I believe both can, and must, coexist with nature in a way in which neither is permanently damaged nor erased. In photographing nature taking back what it once had ownership of, which includes the effects of natural disasters and manicured environments, I strive to give a sense of hope through my work.
