Biomechanical Organism

Biomechanical Organism

During the research for my first 3D modeling project I came upon pictures of Radiolaria and found them to be surprisingly beautiful. I was specifically drawn to the various holes within the shell of the body and was determined to recreate it to the best of my ability. Since Radiolaria are found in water I decided my microorganism would be a deep-sea dweller. However, I did not want it to be organic as I wanted there to be an inner mechanism that glowed. The glowing battery was not in my original plan but I got the idea after watching the Flip Grid of my peers. Its main function is to clean up oil-spills and being in the deep ocean, a layer of a jelly-like substance surrounds the battery to insulate and protect it from extreme temperatures.
